Platja Barceloneta & Platja San Sebastià, Barcelona, Spain (Beachcombing series No.47)

Barcelona's beaches were created for the 1992 Olympics with sand imported from around the Mediterranean. Since there's no uniform underlying geology, there's a crazy variety of beach stones. The artificial beaches have been losing ground ever since they were installed, and in recent years the increasing storms and sea level rise from accelerating climate change have also accelerated the rate of attrition.
